The Creative Nonfiction Workshop

Do you have a manuscript you’ve wanted to finish? Are you stuck or looking for feedback?

Fresco of a woman with a pen at her lip as if she's thinking about what to write. Finally, get the help you need to finish that memoir, collection of essays, self-help, or inspirational book.

The Creative Nonfiction Workshop is an intensive course designed to help you develop and complete your project. Small group size ensures your specific needs are addressed. Ask for the kind of feedback you want, and get it: development of voice, research techniques, arc development–what to include and what to leave out, and more.

  • Personalized Instruction and support
  • Thoughtful feedback from peers and the instructor
  • Increased accountability to meet deadlines

How does it work?

The Creative Nonfiction takes you out of the isolation of facing your project alone. You’ll have the support of a small group of dedicated writers and the facilitator to coach you through the writing process. Some writers begin with only a few chapters completed and need help with planning, voice, POV, research, development, and preparation for publishing. Others arrive with a nearly finished manuscript and need help revising and editing. In each meeting, we discuss two or three writers’ manuscripts. You receive feedback that is constructive, fair, and useful. As a result, you’ll go back to your writing with more confidence about which steps to take next to achieve your goals.

Customized to your needs

You may prefer to spend some of your time writing with the group, doing a specific exercise provided by the workshop leader to address a writing skill you’d like to improve, or talking through the challenges you’re facing.

How many other writers will attend?

The small group size of 5-6 allows for each writer to have two to three opportunities to submit work. These details will be determined as a group on the first night.
