“Write-a-palooza” means all writing.
During the year, the Tuesday night workshop consists of writing during workshop time and discussing manuscripts writers have polished on their own time. During the summer, we keep it light by making the workshops nights of all writing. The facilitator offers prompts, which are short snippets or exercises designed to get you started. You can follow the prompt or go your own way as you write. Then, if you choose, you can read what you’ve just written out loud. Comments on newborn writing consist of mentioning what we remember, what stood out, and what we liked. No critical input is offered at this time because no one has time to edit.
“Write-a-palooza” means less commitment.
During the year, the workshops are six to ten weeks long, and a commitment to the dates is required. During the summer, you choose the number of nights you’d like to attend. Come for one night, twelve nights, or any number in between. The more nights you sign up for, the more money you save. It’s also a great way to see if this is a setting you enjoy.

Worried about signing up because you know you’ll be away for one or two nights? I do have substitutes who may be able to take your place for that evening. I explain how this works on the first night of the workshop, but if you know in advance, contact me so that I can help you find someone. The substitute pays for that evening.
If you’re writing a novel, screenplay, TV Pilot, play, a collection of poetry or short stories, or a memoir and you’re looking for a more in-depth workshop experience, the Manuscript Workshop may be the right place for you. There are openings for Fall 2018, and it meets at The Resiliency Center on Thursdays from 7-10 p.m. Writing sample and invitation required. Click here to learn more.
