Join us! write with The Tuesday Night Writers in Flourtown!

For writers of all levels who write in any genre and in any form.

Tuesday Night Writers

  • Write during workshop
  • Find and strengthen your unique voice
  • Develop a current project further or create new ones
  • Constructive feedback helps you expand on your strengths
  • Experience the camaraderie of surrounding yourself with fellow writers

for writers of all levels. Write fiction, creative nonfiction, poetry, sketch comedy, plays, and screenplays. Write during workshop time in a friendly setting. If you choose to, submit a manuscript for review by workshop participants. (For improving your writing fundamentals, the local community college instructors are excellent.)

Each evening runs from 7:00 – 10:00 PM

Each Tuesday night, we write together to prompts designed to spark your imagination and get you started. Those who wish to read aloud and receive feedback about what stood out to us and what we found good and strong about the writing (no negative feedback about work written during workshop time). Reading aloud is followed by a short break, which includes snacks to revive us. Then the facilitator and the participants answer questions and discuss writing concerns we all share. In the last hour or so, we discuss manuscripts polished by workshop members on their own time according to a schedule agreed on during the first evening of the session.

The setting is supportive, encouraging experimentation with form, genre, voice, and all aspects of writing. The workshop lets you explore and strengthen your voice, find stories or topics you want to write about, and develop these pieces with positive feedback from other writers.

Following the prompts is optional. You are always free to write about whatever you’d like, including working on something you’re currently writing.

Submitting a manuscript is also optional. Sometimes people come to the workshop with nothing they want to submit and then something they write during the workshop becomes the piece they choose to expand on their own and submit.
